Experience

I'm currently working in the public school system full time as a speech-language pathologist. I work with pre-k through 8th grade students everyday! I love helping students master new skills while clarifying any points of confusion. In graduate school, I worked in the Learning Assistance Resource Center training tutors so that they may provide the best possible resources to the college students they were tutoring. I believe that in order to gain the most out of an educational experience, a student must fully grasp the concept so as to dive deeper in meaning. Especially in regards to reading and writing, if a student's reading fluency is slower, their comprehension and full appreciation of the material fails. I want to help improve the student's overall comprehension of texts, and expand their ability to dive into literature and their expressive writing.

Hobbies

I have a background working with children with special needs. As a speech-language pathologist I work with children with autism and other learning disabilities, daily. I also have a background in music and dance! I played the cello for about 6 years, and have been involved with musicals and choirs for as long as I can remember! The highlight of my choral experience was performing in Carnegie Hall in NYC with my college choir. I'm very attentive and like to meet children where they are in their education and development. As a speech-language pathologist, I have a deeper understanding of childrens' developmental processes with language. This allows me to break things down to the most basic level, if needed, to ensure those foundational skills have been achieved!
