Education

Sophomore Biology Major and Psychology Minor at Rutgers University

Experience

I am currently employed as a tutor at the RU-N Learning Center and possess applicable experience working in the field. I work with a variety of students with varying abilities. Some possess a high degree of math aptitude while others have a hard time grasping important Calculus concepts and problem-solving strategies. I am very flexible with all of my students and devote the time and energy necessary to make sure that all of my students learn the information necessary for success in their math courses. I am able to present the information in different ways so that it is understandable to many different people. While tutoring Calculus II to a senior, I do not spend much time reviewing basic math skills. Instead, I focus on antidifferentiation, rules for evaluating integrals, and formulas for using integrals to find the volumes and surface areas of irregular objects. My students leave the Learning Center not only with a clear understanding of important math concepts but they also leave the Learning Center with a confidence that helps build self-efficacy and ensures that they do not develop a dependency on the tutor. This helps my students to mature as independent thinkers and encourages them to utilize various campus resources, which leads to a richer college experience.

Hobbies

I have a very high GPA, and I am in good academic and disciplinary standing with Rutgers. I have excellent time management and interpersonal skills. I am creative, motivated, and possess a strong work ethic. I have a strong sense of commitment and responsibility towards my students, and I serve as a role model for my peers. I am able to work during the Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer months. I am also a local Newark tutor, and I can work part time for at least 2-10 hours per week, because I am already accustomed to that kind of workload. I love to work in neutral or casual settings and would be very comfortable meeting with you and future students in such locales. I do drive a car, so I can meet people even if the location is not very close.
